Does PRK hurt?

Dr. Matthew Russell reveals if PRK hurts

PRK does not hurt at the time of surgery. Going through the operation is completely pain free.3

It’s a fairly quick procedure. It’s just one step, one laser. In most cases we can do the entire procedure as a laser only procedure. Where PRK really differs from LASIK is in the recovery. So once the anesthetic drops wear off, which we use to make the eye completely numb during surgery, then most patients will start to become quite sensitive. The eye will feel gritty, it will sting, it’d be quite irritable, and it’s usually like that for two to three days until the surface of the eye completely heals. However, you must be asking yourself what are the risks of PRK? Know more here!
