How long does refractive cataract surgery take?

Dr Matthew Russell explains how long refractive cataract surgery takes

The refractive cataract surgery takes about 20 minutes, but there’s a process involved. You meet the nurses before surgery; you meet your anaesthetist, we talk through your medical history, and you receive the sedation and the anaesthesia.

Following cataract surgery, there’s a period of about 30 minutes for you to recover from the sedation. The nurses will do a final check before you’re able to go home with a family member or friend. The whole process itself takes about two hours.
