The truth is, when it comes to treatment risks, complications with laser eye surgery are extremely rare. Should any side-effects, or resulting problems occur, we can usually correct them with additional surgery.

The risk of complications is minimised even further by choosing a trustworthy eye hospital with the very best ophthalmic surgeons.

The intraoperative complications of lenticular extraction procedures like SMILE and SmartSight include loss of suction, the formation of the altered opaque bubble layer (OBL), black spots, difficulty in lenticular dissection and extraction, cap perforation, incision-related problems, and decentered ablation. Various postoperative problems which may occur include dry eyes, diffuse lamellar keratitis, corneal ectasia, epithelial ingrowth, transient light sensitivity syndrome (TLSS), pressure-induced stromal keratitis, interface fluid syndrome, interface debris, and infectious keratitis.1https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7856979

However, these complications are exceedingly rare. Furthermore, their incidence tends to be less common than they are with LASIK.
