Will laser eye surgery wear off

Laser eye surgery generally results in permanent vision correction. A small portion of patients may develop a low prescription in the first few years after treatment due to something called regression or if the prescription were to usually change.

With age, you may experience changes in your eyes and other vision problems unrelated to the issue that laser eye surgery treats.

Laser eye surgery lets you see clearly up to middle age, yet despite the permanent changes it makes, it cannot prevent age-related changes.

How long do laser eye surgery procedures like LASIK last?

One of the main selling points of laser eye surgery is how permanent the procedure is, this includes the likes of LASIK and SmartSight eye surgery.

Laser eye surgery, which aims to reshape the cornea to improve long- or short-sightedness and astigmatism, is usually permanent.

After laser eye surgery, you will be able to read, drive, and live your life without the help of glasses or contact lenses.

If you experience other vision problems with age (like presbyopia, cataracts or other age-related changes), it is possible for your eyes to also change. Even though laser eye surgery can permanently change your vision, it will not prevent the occurrence of these age-related changes.
