The benefits of PRK is that you can have PRK where you can’t have LASIK.
The main reason for doing that is because of a situation where the cornea is too thin to be able to treat all of the focusing error with LASIK alone because we use a little bit of the cornea to create a LASIK flap. The other big benefit of PRK is that it’s very safe if there was ever an inadvertent eye injury. So for example, you can still continue to work in the emergency services or in the military if you’ve had PRK, whereas you may not be suitable for those occupations after the LASIK. And the same is true for aviation and being a pilot.
