What is LASIK eye surgery?

LASIK is the most commonly performed laser vision correction surgery used to correct people’s vision who suffer from short-sightedness, long-sightedness, astigmatism, or loss of near vision due to the ageing process called presbyopia.

How surgery works

It’s a procedure where we use two lasers. One laser is used to create an ultra-thin flap on the cornea, only measuring about 100 microns thick. We raise that flap up and then use a second laser to reshape the surface of the cornea to restore normal optics and normal focusing of the eye. Following that, the flap is repositioned and seals down on the surface of the eye and heals over very quickly, in just a few hours…

Recovery

Immediately after the surgery, you might experience mild discomfort and sensitivity to light. We advise wearing non-prescription sunglasses, and have someone with you to drive you home.
